Jay Sawyer/Studio J Bone

Sculpture

Jay Sawyer's work is heavily comprised of salvaged metals of various sorts.  Over the years that he ran a welding/consulting company many of the projects he encountered were repairs, upgrades and modifications to all types of machinery and equipment involving structural welding.  Jay 's contracts covered such areas as marine, bridge work, farm equipment, over the road machinery and signage repairs. Often, this left Jay with the task of removing the discarded materials from the site.  This constant exposure to a myriad of odd scraps of metal allowed Jay to develop an eye and appreciation for much of this detritus and lead him to create ways of putting this material to use.  Over time, the end result was an ongoing artistic career.
